Even when it makes no sense! (Questions).

Verse of the day - Eccl 9:11  "I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all"

Hi all,

I guess happy new year is in order even though its month 4 already ..yikes!!! As explained this blog thing is an experiment with no pressure on myself in any way so i post it as it comes. I will just go straight to the point for this one.  I have asked myself a lot of questions in the short lifetime of mine.

I often wonder why things happen the way they do.

Why there are so many poor people in the world?

Why do bad things happen to good people?
Why life is unpredictable and full of surprises?
Why we can't see the future but yet we make plans?
Why is it that sometimes the wicked seem to prosper even more that the good?
Why  do friends and family betray each other?
Why is it the ones we love don't love us back?
Why  is it that the ones that love us we don't love back?
Why do we take a step even when we know it is wrong?
Why can't we hear God clearly even though he speaks?
Why is it that the answers we seek may be staring us point blank in the face and we still miss it unless someone else slaps reality into us?
Why do we allow ourselves to learn from experience rather than  from other peoples mistakes?
Why men and women keep making the same mistakes generation after generation?
Why some get up after a set back but some keep falling?
Why we always complain even while we are blessed in so many ways?
Why our head and hearts never listen to each other?
Why the heart has a mind of its own?
Above all when these questions run through my mind I found a song that gives me peace for that moment so I will share it below:
Just stay encouraged and remember to Live. laugh and love.

BE A HELPING HAND

Verse : Phillipians 2:4 - "Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others"

Be of service to others no matter how little the help is, you never know it may go a long way even for you in future.

I started this initiative to remind me to take the focus off myself because most of the time, life keeps us so busy we do not really consider other people or what they may be going through or how we can help. The society we live in trains us to be self absorbed. We often live in our own cocoon and all we do is focus on ourselves and what it is we need.

I know life is hard enough already and without realising it, we become selfish in our daily dealings not necessarily because we want to be that way, it just happens. I have come to realise that finding the right balance is key. Give the little help you can to people, be it to friends, family or someone random. How you decide to help someone does not matter just do it by following the steps below every week:

  1. Choose/seek to help 2/3 people per week.
  2. Ask how you can be of service (as your heart leads).
  3. Go out of your way to help them (use your time wisely)
  4. Pass on the idea behind the initiative and tell them to also help 2/3 weekly as well.
  5. Share pictures or stories with me.

The help you choose to give is up to you but could be as simple as:

  • Being a listening ear for someone.
  • Recommending a persons for a job/skill etc.
  • Encouraging a person.
  • Pay for something they need.
  • Surprise a friend/stranger in need.
  • Just make sure to "HELP" in any little way possible.
Just keep it simple and make a difference in someones life today. I will be posting videos from time to time to encourage us and show how the little help we give to others may go a long way. I will also leave you with this song" Things we do" by Yolanda Adams:

Remember this is totally up to you and in your hands. You never know, the help you give today maybe an open door for you/family in future.

Till then

In the words of Vic O "Why all these evilzz?"

Verse of the day- Psalm 23:1 "The lord is my shepherd, I shall not want" (Selah)

Hi People,
Today my post is the about the 8th wonder of this world "The evil in the heart of men" be it a lie or some form of deceit. Fact still remains there is way too much evil going on and may God help us all amen.
In that light, I just have to ask this question with the voice of Vic O " WHY all these evilzz?". Why is it that a sister cannot walk down the street anymore without being lied to? It really confuses me sometimes when I see beggars with hands and legs asking you for money (not that I don't sympathise with them) but I just think we all have same legs and hands and we can choose to do what we want with it.

Don't get me wrong, I know it is easier for some because of their background/family support setting etc.  But overall, what just annoys me is when you give money out of a good heart to beggars and then you find out you have been played in the process or they throw the money back in your face (especially Nigerian beggars, they are known for that nonsense).

I remember once I was walking to get some groceries, I had this guy stop me to ask for help with some money to get an Oyster card, he mentioned the Police had already picked on him that day as he didn't have money to travel around so he had jumped on a train without a ticket, got caught and was penalised. Anyway if I am honest the story he gave me was not really adding up to me, but he did look distressed so I decided to help.

He couldn't have been more than 20+ years old, wearing a rough shirt and tailored grey trousers. From experience I knew better than to give random people money but as I was in a hurry, I gave him some money to get an Oyster card. Fast forward 30mins later on my way back from the grocery store, guess who I saw again? Same guy and he was telling exactly the same story he told me to this other woman who was pushing a buggy. At that point I really wanted to slap myself for trusting him but then remembered my face deserved better lol. So I decided to go and stand next to the woman and give him the look:

The minute he saw me he just froze mid sentence in shock, turned and ran away, I was so pissed. I then explained to the lady what had happened and she thanked me and walked away.

Precisely 3 months later, this same guy walks up to me and tells me the same story again (this time I had changed my hairstyle so I don't think he recognised me) ohhh i was tempted to give him a slap then pick the race of my life but I knew he would probably catch me and that wouldn't be a nice ending so i just parked that thought to the side  gently like a lady should.

But I had to ask myself hang on, am I wearing a "Mugun" poster on my forehead  or something?". Anyways I knew what to do so I said to him "Come with me let me give you something." I was simply walking him towards the policemen standing by the corner of the mall to verify his story with them but something must have clicked  because all of a sudden he stopped and ran away again.

I just thought to myself, these are the kind of people that abuse the heart of a good Samaritan.
With this kind of situation do you keep giving random beggars money or do you just buy them exactly what they need? Or not even give at all.

At least I have learnt that if a story is not adding up, "Biko start subtracting mentally" lol.
(food for thought). And for those of you who don't know about Vic O, here you go : Why evils video

Boss from Heaven...errr NOT... more like from He**..!!!!

Have you ever had one of those bosses that has you saying " Thank God I found Jesus"? You know those kind of bosses (mostly female) that when you see them all you can see is a red faced devil with horns in front of their head. At some point you have either dreamt of:
  • Slapping them up a few times.
  • Sending some people to rough them up (I mean maximum shi shi kinda thing).
  • Spitting in the coffee you nicely volunteered to make for them.
  • Hoped they slip on a banana peel and fall face flat before a meeting (well hopefully with no broken bones..).
  • Hoped they just decide to work from home 4 days a week then get fired for being mean.

And while you are speaking to them face to face all these thoughts (listed above) are running through your mind? God help my mind though lol... lets not lie we all have these thoughts sometimes when someone at work e.g. Boss/Colleague gets on your last nerve.

Well a close friend once told me about his boss, in fact he referred to this boss as demon 2.0 sent specifically to make his life miserable at work. He was Jejelly (pardon use of my Nigerian jargon) doing his thing in the 1st few months at the company and for some reason this boss started picking on him. Nothing he ever did was good enough...e.g. He mentioned a few times this 2.0 boss made mistakes in emails to clients and for some reason it automatically became my friends fault because he did not notify his boss to correct the mistakes before the emails was sent out. He realised he started loosing sleep and always felt agitated at work, poor thing almost lost his confidence with the role at times.

Most times he felt like he was being "Punked" or something, but then when he looked around there was definitely no Ashton Kutcher behind him, just the devil whispering stuff in the bosses ears....lol.
Anyways eventually the boss was transferred (talk about divine intervention) and through this experience he learnt some valuable lessons on how to handle horrible bosses of which he shared with me, see some below:
  • Know your stuff and be confident about it.
  • Always double check before contacting important clients.
  • Keep asking questions if you are unsure at least until you are sure :).
  • Learn the heck how to play healthy office politics if not, you will soon hear "Its all over Jackie".
  • Find a healthy work life balance (Work smart not too hard, you are not anyone's Monkey)
  • Learn to say "NO" in a diplomatic way if you feel you are being pushed to do what's not priority to your role but explain clearly and nicely.
  • Try not to be confrontational and develop more people skills (read books, take tests and practise with friends if you have to).

I hope I never have to go through that though but I honestly feel God maybe allows these things to happen to us sometimes to build up our resistance and learn how to deal with different types of people. I think this happens a lot to workers but the companies do nothing about this sadly.

That's all from me for now, just thought to share. Remember to leave a comment below if you had this kind of experience before.

Be good.

What is going on in your mind? Mindfulness

Hello,

Just call me Bae ..lol, I am just a simple Nigerian lady who lives in the UK and looking forward to what life has to offer.

I am so excited to finally post stuff on here. I started this blog years back but never posted anything, not sure why but maybe I needed to make sure what I had to say would make sense to some extent and hopefully affect others positively. I will be sharing different thoughts and stories occasionally (life experiences) so lets see how this goes. One thing is for certain, I still have a lot of questions to ask about life so I may have occasional rant sessions on here so please bear with me.

For me it is all well and good to have a blog that talks about Fashion, Beauty, Health and all etc but I think the most important thing is neglected which is the state of the Mind and Soul. So my question to you today is " What is really going on inside you?".

"As a man thinks in his heart so is he"
Proverbs 23:7

Are you passing through life or is life passing through you? I know we all have highs and lows but are we really taking care of our minds? What are you feeding yourself? I personally struggled with a wrong mind-set growing up, this was because I moved around a lot a growing up (different states, schools, friends etc) this affected my confidence with a lot of things. I am still a work in progress but I have indeed come a long way in my years of experience. I find that it is always good to start by making a list of how you plan to grow yourself and take care of your mind. For me, what's more important is how to develop the zeal to stick to building yourself so I simply just set a timer on my phone to remind myself of what I am supposed to be doing if not I will definitely forget...

I know for a fact we all get so busy and distracted with life we forget to take care of what really matters, we need to learn to appreciate the simple things e.g you have a nose to breathe, fact that your mouth still works and you can drink water, family, health, a job, friendships etc.

I have listed below a few steps that works for me in this journey of getting my mind right, look through and make sure to make a personal list to get yourself a healthy mind-set. I know its not going to be that simple but its never too late to start.

  • Cultivate the habit of enjoying your company.
  • Drink loads of water (Sound silly right? Trust me it makes a difference even though i think water tastes boring)
  • Reflect and focus on positive things (Pick a positive statement and keep re-affirming it- personalise it)
  • Read 1 book a week (Interest based)
  • If religious, read your bible and meditate on it daily (Even i still struggle but may God bless our hustle oh lol)
  • Exercise weekly (This is currently so hard for me especially when hummingbird bakery is next to my office *rolls eyes* but i will survive)
  • Know that the world will always have an opinion about everything but its okay to be different.
  • Ask questions and be ok when you don't get all the answers
  • Enjoy the simple things in life like taking a walk, hanging out with family & friends etc.
  • Never give up on your hobby/get a hobby if you don't have one already.
  • Be humble and open minded.

Finally, I will leave you with a song I have been listening to lately, this gets me through the day no matter the situation.

Be good.

Live, laugh and love.
